Daily Streak questions answered

The daily mode is deterministic by UTC date, but browser storage and local time can make it look different from a calendar app. These answers cover the usual surprises.

Why did the sounds change early?

Daily Streak refreshes at 00:00 UTC. The change may happen during your local day, and a page opened near the boundary can update after a refresh. The countdown in the game is the useful reference. Friends should check the date and sound source before comparing scores.

Why did my streak reset?

A current streak requires consecutive completed UTC dates. Missing a date breaks the current sequence but keeps the longest streak. Clearing cookies, blocking site storage, switching browsers or changing devices can remove access to the anonymous browser profile that displays your progress.

Can I play more than once?

You can replay a set to practice, but repeating the same date does not add multiple completed days. The mode records the completed day against the browser profile. A score shown on a leaderboard is optional and remains a casual, unverified result.

What if a microphone check fails?

A failed check does not count as a scored run. Use the microphone help page, or choose the no-microphone sound guessing game while you troubleshoot. Once the input works, return to Daily Streak and complete the four sounds.

How is privacy handled?

Daily progress uses an anonymous browser profile and numeric results. The game does not upload the voice recording for a normal daily round. Optional analytics and advertising storage are controlled by the privacy choice shown on the site; the Privacy page explains the separate first-party records.

A UTC boundary example

Someone in California can finish one set late in the evening and see the next set before local midnight, while someone in Shanghai may see the change during the morning. That is expected. Compare the displayed UTC date and the sound set instead of comparing the time on a phone calendar.

Browser progress troubleshooting

Daily progress is tied to the anonymous browser profile that created it. Private browsing, automatic storage cleanup, content blockers and a second browser can each show a fresh profile. If you want the same streak on a new device, finish the current set on the original browser first and keep the device setting stable.

Practice without changing the streak

Use replay to learn the current set, or open the sound-memory and Just Play guides for extra practice. A practice attempt is useful for listening but does not create another completed date. This keeps the streak a record of days played rather than a count of every refresh.

A family or shared-device note

If several people use one browser profile, the displayed streak represents that profile, not a verified person. Use separate browser profiles when that distinction matters, and do not enter real names into a nickname field. The game does not require an account to make a daily attempt.

The countdown is the source of truth

A calendar notification, an open tab and the countdown can disagree around the reset because they update at different moments. Read the date and countdown rendered by the game after a refresh. If a friend sees a different set, compare the UTC date first, then check whether one browser is still showing a cached page.

A failed attempt is not a lost day

If the page cannot load a clip or the microphone check fails before a submission, stop and troubleshoot instead of guessing through a broken round. The game distinguishes an incomplete attempt from a completed day. Returning after the device is ready lets you play the same date while it is still current.

Storage and content blockers

Strict privacy extensions can block anonymous progress storage, media requests or the optional measurement path. Try the essential game path in a clean tab, then add an exception only if you understand the extension's setting. Mimic Party does not require an advertising exception to play a daily set.

Comparing scores fairly

A score is a snapshot of one browser's audio input and one attempt, not a calibrated contest. Compare the sound set, date and mode before comparing numbers. A different microphone, room noise or replay volume can change the result even when two people imitate the same reference.

When you want a fresh start

Clearing a browser profile can remove the current streak and anonymous progress. If you only want to stop optional storage, change the privacy choice instead of deleting every site record. The Privacy page explains which controls affect measurement and which local records are needed for the game to remember a day.
