Sharing a take is always a choice
Private-room replays are designed for a quick laugh after a scored round. They are bounded, temporary and separate from public leaderboards and analytics.
When the option appears
A player must finish a private-room take and reach the review state before the share action is available. Public rooms remain score-only. The player chooses Share this take with friends; the client does not upload the WAV merely because a microphone was used for scoring.
What is uploaded
The shared clip is a short WAV of up to eight seconds. It is held in temporary memory by the room service so active members can request playback. It is not added to the public sound catalog, D1 database, R2 storage, leaderboard or analytics events. The server rejects a request without the room membership and explicit consent marker.
Who can hear it
Only active members of that private room can request a shared clip. Playback is never automatic: a friend must click Listen. A member can mute replays or hide an unwanted take for the room, and the owner can remove their own take. Share only with people you trust because a listener can record audio outside the site.
How long it lasts
A clip expires after five minutes, when the round changes, when the owner leaves or when it is removed. A server restart can make it disappear sooner. Closing a tab does not send a removal request by itself, so use Remove or Leave when you want to end the share immediately.
Respectful use
Do not upload another person's recording, personal information or inappropriate material. The Terms page describes the same rule. If a clip is unwanted, hide it for the room and leave the room if needed. The game is a short party feature, not a storage service or a continuous voice channel.
Before pressing Share
Pause and check the room name and the people currently listed as active members. Sharing is optional, and scoring does not depend on it. If you are unsure whether everyone should hear a take, keep it private; the result and the local game flow remain available without a replay.
Removal cannot recall playback
Remove stops the room from offering the clip again, but somebody who already listened may have heard or captured it outside the site. That is why the action is limited to active members, playback requires a click and the expiry is short. Treat the button as a fast cleanup control, not as a guarantee that an external copy never exists.
A public-room alternative
Public rooms are score-only by design. If the group wants to compare performances, create a private room first and use the explicit share action there. Do not paste a raw audio URL into a public chat or turn a temporary party clip into a separate collection.
Where to ask questions
The Privacy and Terms pages describe the same limits in longer form, while Contact is the right place for a correction or removal question. Include the room type and approximate time if support needs to locate an event. Do not attach a recording or send a live room code unless support specifically asks for a safe, expired example.
The owner still controls the choice
The person who made the take chooses whether to share it. A host cannot publish a player's recording on that player's behalf, and a friend should not pressure someone to use the button. Keeping the result score-only is a normal outcome, especially when a room includes people who have not met before.
A five-minute window
The expiry window is intentionally short so a private replay does not become an unnoticed archive. If a group wants to discuss a funny sound, do it while the room is active and then let the clip expire. Do not promise somebody that an old replay can be restored after the room changes.
If playback fails
A listener may have muted the tab, lost the room connection or joined after the clip expired. Check the active-member list and ask the owner to share again only if they still want to. Do not refresh repeatedly while a share is being removed; let the room state settle before trying another control.
If a clip feels unsafe
Use the hide or remove control, leave the room and contact support if a rule was broken. Do not download, repost or forward the clip to prove the issue. A description of the room type, approximate time and visible nickname is usually more useful than copying the audio to another service.
